Summary/Abstract: Sport and physical exercise are an integral part of the educational system in higher education institutions, aimed at improving students' health, working capacity, and motor culture, as well as preventing the negative influences of the contemporary student lifestyle. The purpose of this article is to trace the historical path and institutional establishment of the aerobics and callanetics discipline at UNWE for the period from the founding of the first student sports club to the present day. The analysis covers the stages from the emergence of sports through dance courses in 1923 to the creation of a callanetics curriculum in 1987 and the formation of representative teams after 2007. It has been proven that the aerobics discipline has established itself as a leading physical activity, both for the development of mass sport and the improvement of students' health status, and for the sports prestige of the university, which is the holder of titles from national and international championships and tournaments.
