Summary/Abstract: Production capacity planning is a crucial element in operations management and plays an essential role in the effective functioning of the supply chain. The accurate measurement and management of production capacity, throughput, and output are of great importance for ensuring timely order fulfilment and optimal resource utilization in companies. The aim of this paper is to examine the role of production capacity planning in the supply chain with a primary focus on the microelectronics manufacturing sector, where the processes are highly specialized and require precise coordination. A case study method was employed in a specific company from the sector, analysing quantitative data for the three aforementioned interrelated indicators that serve as a basis for decision-making in strategic and operational production planning. As a result of the analysis, problematic areas were identified, including bottleneck capacity planning, and opportunities for optimal production capacity planning were outlined with a view to satisfying customer demand.
