Summary/Abstract: In the context of need for lasting solutions to reduce the negative impact on the environment while maintaining continued economic growth, sustainable logistics can be a key priority for achieving these seemingly contradictory priorities. This paper aims to reveal the leading factors for introducing sustainable logistics practices among commercial and manufacturing enterprises, as well as companies from the logistics sector in Bulgaria. The study analyzes the factors that stimulate or obstruct enterprises from implementing such practices, using an approach that classifies them as external or internal to the organizations. The data used were collected from the three aforementioned types of companies through a questionnaire survey and the research methodology applies descriptive statistics and content analysis. The findings reveal that the strongest motives for implementing sustainable logistics services are compliance with legislative requirements and related tax obligations, along with improving the corporate image. The main barrier to business remains high costs and investments. The study contributes to a better understanding of the incentives and obstacles for Bulgarian enterprises to implement sustainable logistics practices and highlight the need for targeted policies, measures and investments to improve the sustainable indicators and outcomes of companies.
