Summary/Abstract: In 2018, the Republic of Bulgaria harmonized its national regulatory framework with the key European standards related to load securing during transport. These standards were translated into Bulgarian and incorporated into national legislation – BDS EN 12195-1, BDS EN 12195-2, BDS EN 12195-3, BDS EN 12195, BDS EN 12640, BDS EN 12642 and BDS EN 283. The implementation of these standards has had a significant impact on manufacturers of freight superstructures, equipment and spare parts, as well as on repair enterprises and companies engaged in freight transportation. An essential element of the overall safety assurance process is the introduction of periodic technical inspections of freight superstructures, aimed at verifying their suitability for the reliable securing and safe transport of loads.
