Summary/Abstract: Inequalities in access to healthcare in Bulgaria are influenced by regional, demographic and socioeconomic differences, which create chronic imbalances in the healthcare system. The concentration of health and financial resources in large cities and their scarcity in poorer areas limits citizens' opportunities for equal and fair access to healthcare. Social vulnerability is further exacerbated by low levels of public funding and the high share of direct out-of-pocket payments for healthcare. Regional analysis reveals the need for a more balanced distribution of resources and the introduction of policies aimed at a sustainable reduction of health inequalities.
