Summary/Abstract: The story of the project which gave birth to the Netzstadt Method began in 1993, when Franz Oswald first met Peter Baccini to discuss a research project dedicated to urban development. (…) The two concluded from their discussion that urban design would have to be systematically oriented towards the functional conversion of cities since this was the only professionally acceptable alternative from the point of view of sustainable development.
