Summary/Abstract: This is a story about the experiences of an eleven-year-old child navigating a new language, culture, way of life, and unfamiliar traditions. The fragile psyche of a young child is often unprepared to meet new challenges. In the 1960s and 70s, the concepts of “pedagogical advisor” and “school psychologist” were absent from the vocabulary of pedagogical specialists. Such positions were also lacking in Bulgarian schools. Yet, in every person's life, in every child’s life, there are always people who extend a helping hand during difficult moments and guide them to overcome temporary difficulties. And there is always a song – one that makes the day brighter, warmer, more joyful.
