Summary/Abstract: This paper explores the possibility of using translation as an educational medium in teaching Russian as a foreign language in a classroom, where reading and analyzing of a literary text takes place. It offers methodological recommendations of various translation techniques drawing on the example of M. Bulgakov's novel TheMaster and Margarita with students at advanced level of language proficiency at the University of Melbourne.
