Summary/Abstract: The article presents the linguistic features and technical parameters of the translation of audio-visual works on material from a Russian serial. The object of this study is a specific type of translation, called audio-visual translation (AVT), which is understood as the process of translation and adaptation of audio-visual works for viewers, users from other countries and/or cultures. The characteristics of audiovisual works and the difficulties they can cause in the translation process are discussed. The difficulties a translator might encounter in the process of subtitling as a way of embedding text in an audiovisual work are outlined.
