Summary/Abstract: This work is an attempt to consider the novel “Alexis Zorbas” by Nikos Kazantzakis in the historical, cultural, philosophical and social context of the era in which it was created. The overview of one of the most famous works of Greek literature contributes to a more comprehensive acquaintance with the peculiarities and logic of the processes characteristic of the time, creating a basis for interpretations, parallels and a panoramic view of the plot and the characters.
