Summary/Abstract: This text presents only one aspect of the so-called procedure of deutopization of language in Robert Musil’s novel The Man Without Qualities. The thesis here is that the Austrian writer aims to undermine the “tyranny” of language by ironically presenting the interplay between etymological and contemporary meanings, projected onto overvalued concepts, one of which is the concept of genius in this case. From the grotesque clash between the authentic instrumental nature of language and its added ideal value in modern times, the entire ironic universe (simultaneously fascinating and terrifying) of The Man Without Qualities is born.
