Summary/Abstract: The article proposes using the pragmatic category of person to describe thefunctioning of personal names. Self-representation belongs to the 1st person, addressing to the 2nd person, all other uses to the 3rd person. The 2nd person turns out to be a strong position in which the maximum set of name forms is possible. For the 1st and 3rd person there are restrictions, emotional forms being poorly compatible with them.
