Summary/Abstract: In the south of Romania, it is located in Dolj County, where there are areas where the sand forms desert dunes. This area is the Oltenia Sahara and is slowly but surely turning into a desert. Vegetation disappears, and hot sand remains in its place. Approximately one hundred thousand hectares are covered with sand. According to specialists, the phenomenon of desertification has increased in recent years, due to the climatic conditions and the lack of precipitation. Dolj county is the county affected by the desertification phenomenon, due to the drought and sandy soil, but also to the chaotic deforestation of recent years. Nothing grows on these sandy lands anymore. According to the specialists - Sandy soils can only be cultivated in conditions where they have water.
