Summary/Abstract: Between 14–15 October 2016, under the organization of the Romanian Academy, Timișoara Branch (24 M. Viteazu Blvd.), the “Titu Maiorescu” Institute of Banat Studies, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Timișoara, the National Museum of Banat, the Timiș County Service of the National Archives, the Metropolis of Banat, the Politehnica Timișoara Foundation, the West University of Timișoara, the Timișoara Local Council, the Timiș County Council, and many other cultural and research institutions in the city, the international scientific conference “Timișoara 1716–2016. A European History” took place. The event was dedicated to the 300 years that had passed since the liberation of the city and the entire Banat from Ottoman rule, and it also benefited from the support of the Austrian Embassy in Bucharest.
