Summary/Abstract: The Ambo prayer was first introduced in the Byzantine version of the Basil’s Liturgy (BAS), following the process of byzantinization, probably imitating what already existed in the hagiopolite dismissal prayers. Thus, the evolution of the Ambo prayer started from these dismissal prayers, called the Apolis prayers, borrowed from the IAK, and received the name of Ambo prayers in Constantinople. The prayer of the Apolis or the hagiopolite dismissal prayer would form the basis of the Ambo prayer, especially since the texts of the Ambo prayers on Sundays of Lent, for example, do not follow the themes of the Lectionary or the Constantinopolitan Typicon, but develop the themes of the Armenian Lectionary of Jerusalem. The Liturgy of Basil includes several variants of the Ambo prayers, and I propose to analyze some of them, which I have identified in various byzantine manuscripts and in the printed romanian and greek Missals. Could any of these prayers be composed by St. Basil the Great?
