Summary/Abstract: The War in Ukraine has redefined the European policy agenda, bringing energy security to the fore. This paper aims to answer two critical questions: what concrete steps were taken by the European Union (EU) in response to the energy crisis triggered by the conflict, and how the EU’s new energy policy affected Member States’ efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels from Russia. The analysis covers 2022-2025 period, using data from various sources, and shows that the EU has taken strategic steps in dealing with the impact of the Russia-Ukraine War on energy security. In the context of gas supplies from Russia, via pipeline and LNG to some EU Member States that will not apply strict sanctions even after 2027, the volume of these supplies is expected to decrease significantly
