Summary/Abstract: The current paper is an attempt to reconstruct the Peter Manolov case from the late 1980s and the early 1990s. The hunger strike of the poet and public figure from Plovdiv, which put his life at serious risk, was announced as a result of the forced seizure of his personal archive by State Security officers. Manolov's action was accompanied by local and international support. The event became one of the most vivid and emblematic manifestations of dissent against the totalitarian power in Bulgaria on the eve of the fall of the communist regime.
