Summary/Abstract: Crisis situations pose a challenge for every country and can occur anywhere in the world at any time. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, various activities are being implemented in the field of strengthening resilience and disaster risk reduction, primarily through the development of strategic documents and analyses and the implementation of projects with the support of donors. The focus is on strengthening the capacities of professionals, adequate protection of vulnerable groups, improving local resilience, exchanging experiences and strengthening institutional capacities. Although the activities implemented are significant, it is necessary to continuously work on systemic sustainability. The social and health care sectors play a key role in strengthening resilience to crisis situations. Examples of countries with well-developed models of disaster risk reduction and strengthening community resilience - indicate the importance of prevention and risk management. Future activities should be focused on local action, a multisectoral approach and the protection and empowerment of vulnerable groups of the population.
