Summary/Abstract: A well-designed dual education, which guarantees the employment of vocational high school graduates, can become an alternative to general education. Appropriate planning of vocational education and its adaptation to the needs of the local market is the responsibility of society itself, that is, local authorities and heads of vocational schools in cooperation with employers. One of the most successful dual education systems is certainly in Switzerland. The dual system of vocational education in Switzerland, with a combination of companies - schools, can be considered, without false modesty, a model and key to the economic prosperity of all employees, not just the educated elite. This system could serve as a successful method against mass youth unemployment in many countries. The dual education system, also called alternative or two-way, is the practical study of a profession organized by the employer and theoretical and general education in the school system or some of the extracurricular forms of education. Precisely for this reason and the goal of this work is to point out the essential characteristics of this educational system and its functioning.
