Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study was to examine the level of knowledge of educators about stuttering and compare it with the knowledge of individuals from the general population. A total of 80 respondents participated in the study; 40 educators and 40 respondents from the general population. The Alabama Stuttering Test was used as an instrument, which includes 26 statements related to the etiology, characteristics and statistical data on stuttering. The results showed that the majority of educators have a moderate level of knowledge about stuttering, while the majority of respondents from the general population show a low level of knowledge. However, statistically significant differences in the overall level of knowledge between the groups were not found (χ2=4.701; p=0.09). The analysis of the relationship between knowledge and age of the respondents also did not establish a statistically significant relationship in either educators or the general population. The largest number of incorrect answers related to erroneous beliefs about the cause of stuttering. The results indicate the need for systematic educational programs in order to improve the level of knowledge of educators and the general population about stuttering.
