Summary/Abstract: The application of modern ICT in higher education has also contributed to the development of new models of teaching and learning that take place outside the classroom. At the same time, by attending distance learning courses, students do not lose anything in terms of the quality of teaching and the amount of knowledge they acquire, while on the other hand they are given the opportunity to learn at a pace that suits them, at a time that suits them, from home, which makes it easier for them to balance learning with other life obligations. Distance education can be implemented at all levels of education, and is most common within higher education. It can exist as a supplement to classical education or as a completely independent one. The advantage of hybrid education lies in the fact that the best features of both forms of education can be used. However, it is mainly used as a transitional model when completely switching to distance education. The digital society we live in demands changes in the education system every day. These demands mostly relate to the need to introduce new learning models that will keep up with the dynamic processes in modern society.
