Summary/Abstract: The Covid-19 pandemic and its recovery have raised many questions for theoretical frameworks for individuals' career development. The pandemic is a systemic problem, and most career development theories focus primarily on individuals rather than on systemic interventions. Furthermore, they do not account for all the influences and decisions of individuals, as they reflect the circumstances of the time in which they were formulated. The aim of the report is to raise awareness of the Living systems theory of vocational behaviour and development(LSVD), which provides a more complete explanation of these issues. It explains and illustrates the processes by which individuals construct their work experiences, professional paths and career patterns through episodes of interaction with opportunities they recognize within their context. The theory presents the individual as a dynamic, self-directing and self-constructing entity, i.e. a living system. The theory introduces the concept of "behavioural episodes" as fundamental dynamic units of analysis, which are seen as building blocks through which individuals construct and preserve their experiences in patterns, and which can be reactivated to construct their future career path.
