Summary/Abstract: Mentoring and coaching refer to interactions aimed at supporting the growth and development of other people, whether professionally, personally, or in both areas. The most relevant difference between the two approaches concerns the purpose for which experience or information is transferred. In mentoring, the goal is to transfer knowledge and expertise from a more experienced person to another, less experienced person who is usually in a learning or training process. In coaching, the purpose of the relationship is self‑discovery, in order to perform better in certain work tasks (Viera, 2021).
