Summary/Abstract: This investigation focuses on the interplay between the common and the terminological lexis in the sphere of liturgics, as well as on the description of these linguistic phenomena by means of the tools of historical lexicography. The researcher analyzes the mechanisms of this type of semantic derivation in the formation of the first liturgical terminology in the history of Bulgarian and the part it played in the development of polysemy. Numerous examples are given of particular and non-particular special usage within the lexical category under examination. The observations are made on the basis of the so-called classic Old Bulgarian written records.
