Summary/Abstract: “Slavonic-Bulgarian History” by the monk Paisius of Hilendar is considered one of the most significant books and one of the underlying causes for the Bulgarian National Revival. As far as Bulgarian-Greek relations are concerned, this work “traditionally” creates polarized notions about the author’s “sympathy” towards the Greeks. For Bulgarians, the History and Paisius himself have been put on the highest pedestal for years now, while the attitudes about “sympathies” and “antipathies” have been rethought by modern Bulgarian historiography. The article offers a quick overview of the Greek historiography on the topic, which gives its evaluation about Paisius of Hilendar’s work. Nowadays, historians on both sides are converging more and more in their reading of the History, but still not quite completely.
