Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the philosophical aspects and references of Georgi Gospodinov's two novels, Natural Novel and Physics of Sorrow, which are conceptually based on the pre-Socratic philosophy and practical examples of an atomistic novel. Since Gospodinov in his writing operates on the field between science and literature, article tries to elaborate relationship of the two by using (pre-Socratic) philosophy as one of their meeting points. In doing so it endeavours to illustrate their reciprocal significance, while also emphasizing the preserving function of literature, the idea which lies in the core of Gospodinov's prose.
