Summary/Abstract: The article explores two subclasses of the semantic class of verbs of human activity, namely verbs denoting the use of vehicles, as well as the semantic frames that describe the two main perspectives at these kinds of situations: the Operate vehicle frame, which involves a Driver who controls the vehicle and the Ride vehicle frame, which involves a Theme that moves by means of the vehicle without having control over it. We study the syntactic realisations of the frame elements of each frame. The focus is on the frame element Vehicle (as a subtype of Instrument) and its various realisations when combined with different verbs and other frame elements. The analysis is based on examples from Bulgarian and English.
