Summary/Abstract: Acquiring professional skills is an important part of a young person's life. Enriching personal experience, building organisational, presentation and communication skills are key to a successful career. Participation in the maritime medicine programme contributes to the parallel development of 'hard' and 'soft' skills. Acquiring knowledge of the use of different methodologies, organizing scientific experiments and presenting their results are only a small part of the benefits for the individual participating in the science program. In this paper, we present one of the main approaches to developing organizational competencies through building and presenting the methodologies used in a marine science program. The method is based on the Bell-Lancaster model. The aim is to demonstrate knowledge and develop organizational and communicative competencies in young people.
