Summary/Abstract: The teaching of gastronomic technical terminology in the context of German as a Foreign Language (DaF) presents a particular challenge, as specialized language is deeply embedded in both professional and cultural contexts. The importance of such terminology lies in its function to ensure effective professional communication in the field of gastronomy – both among professionals and in interactions with guests. In DaF textbooks, technical language should be contextualized, supported by multimedia resources, practiced through role-plays, and embedded in intercultural learning. A practical example of language-sensitive teaching is the use of bilingual worksheets to convey gastronomic terminology. These materials incorporate both the target language (German) and the learners' native languages to overcome linguistic barriers and enhance the understanding of key concepts.
