Summary/Abstract: Planning a blue-green infrastructure system can prevent uncontrolled urban sprawl and the negative effects resulted from unsustainable land use. The implementation of green-blue solutions in a large city must take into account its spatial development vision, its historical and geographical context, social and economic elements and, last but not least, its local government mechanisms. For this reason, the sound design of green-blue infrastructure elements requires the use of correct and compatible data sets and the application of the best computer tools such as GIS. This article presents an innovative methodology for identifying and designing the connectivity of green-blue areas in the metropolitan area of Bucharest, the capital of Romania. The methodology is based on a data set compatible with the European environmental databases - Corine 2018 and the Urban Atlas and on two GIS tools - Gnarly Landscape Utilities and Linkage Mapper. The results obtained are both the technical solution for planning the connectivity of the green-blue areas in the Bucharest metropolitan area, as well as the means by which it can be practically implemented. The development and implementation of this methodology had a double purpose: firstly, it is a starting point for planning the green-blue infrastructure of Bucharest metropolitan area and secondly, it represents a good practice model for the integration of green-blue infrastructure in urban and territorial planning.
