Summary/Abstract: This paper briefly presents the author's long-term work on the problems of ethnology and ethnography of Serbs in Hungary. The first part briefly summarizes the research work, which relates to the traditional culture - primarily to calendar customs - of Serbian people in Hungary, especially those Serbs living in settlements along the Danube. This work began in 1955 in Pomaz, and was most comprehensively presented (in a broader South Slavic context) in the book Délszláv hoszótsok a Duna létő [Customs of the South Slavs along the Danube], published in 1988. The author was a long-term scientific associate of the Ethnographic Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. From 1979 to 1987, she was also the editor of the journal Ethnography of the South Slavs in Hungary, published by the Hungarian Ethnographic Society. In addition, from 1983 to 1991, she organized three very successful Yugoslav-Hungarian ethnographic conferences with partner institutions from the former Yugoslavia. These aspects of Dr. Marija Kiš's work are discussed in the second part of the paper.
