Summary/Abstract: This work presents an overview of the contemporary information and communication technologies and their adequate application in all four aspects: information, environment, communication and assessment. Examples for this application are proposed for foreign language learning and learning in a foreign language. The examples highlight the different usage in different contexts (high- and low-technology ones, various subjects) and support the informed choice of an appropriate technology for a particular context.
