Summary/Abstract: Social competence includes knowledge, skills and value relations necessary for the individual to conduct effective contacts with representatives of various institutions (state and regional) and social groups, with other members of civil society. The educational system, including the teaching of individual subjects, must provide opportunities and resources for the formation and development of this competence. The article examines this question from the point of view of the peculiarities and means of teaching in the Bulgarian language.
