Summary/Abstract: This article presents problems of Bulgarian language training in junior high school and in both high school stages of school education as a point of reference for improving in civil competence of students. It is gone through definitions of concepts of civil society and civil competence that are existing in science and in educational practice. Methodical ideas and variants for mastering civic skills of students are submitted, as in the junior high school stage this is implemented implicitly, i.e. by reading texts with civic issues, and in the two high school stages – both implicitly and explicitly, i.e. through development of topics and problems staked on the educational content for the corresponding class.
