Summary/Abstract: The double nature of E.T.A. Hoffmann’s life and art is in unison with theatre’s nature. This study focuses on motives in Hoffmann’s texts that have been interpreted dramaturgically and theatrically. The main examples of the analysis are the German play “Arabian Night” by Roland Schimmelpfenig and the dramaturgical adaptation of Little Zaches Called Cinnabar by the Bulgarian director Stefan Moskov, used as a script of his show “Phantasmagorias”.
