Summary/Abstract: The report presents an analysis of the current state of overall mortality dynamics among the population in the rural areas of Southeastern Bulgaria. Differences by gender, age, and causes of death have been examined. The results of the analysis show that mortality in rural areas is higher compared to urban areas, which is a worrying trend linked to a number of factors, such as limited access to healthcare services and a lower standard of living. The differences by gender and age are particularly pronounced, as certain population groups, such as the elderly and men, are more prone to higher mortality. The increasing disparities in life expectancy between rural and urban areas reflect growing social inequalities that affect the population's access to healthcare and material well-being. These deepening differences signal the need for targeted policies to ensure equal access to quality healthcare services for all citizens, regardless of their place of residence.
