Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the report is to provide an overview and analysis of the educational, research and public activities of the Department of Agricultural Economics on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of its establishment. The development of the Department and the education it offers is in the context of changes in agriculture, in the structures of the agrarian business, the development of rural areas and in agrarian economic education. The issues of the establishment and functioning of the Department, the evolution of the offered specialties and the upgrading of the scientific directions in the research activities of the academic staff are examined. The diverse public activity of the department is presented, its role as an integration center for generating scientific knowledge, its implantation in educational activities and substantiation of its applied significance by creating a serious contact network of representatives of practice. The emphasis is on the problems in the development of agrarian-economic education in the country, as well as on the contemporary challenges facing the agrarian sector.
