Summary/Abstract: The article examines the crisis as one of the leading factors for the emergence and development of PR. The changed nature of crises and, at the same time, the transformations of the digital information environment are studied. The professionalization of communication in response to crises is studied in terms of the education and professional organizations of public relations experts in Bulgaria. The empirical study on the development of PR in response to crises focuses on three examples from the USA, Europe, and Bulgaria.
