Summary/Abstract: Each historical phenomenon has, as it is known, its history and pre-history. Today, when Europe is not as stable as it is desirable, the issue of the Late Empire became a subject, favourite to historians, as far as the excursions in the diachronic of matters help them better define present circumstances is concerned. Alike, the inherent process of globalization – older and filled with more consequences than generally acceptable – stimulated the efforts to establish a political pluralism to recognize cultural diversitiesth States often define themselves as bounded by a fixed border, and nowhere was this principle of state ideology more closely followed than in imperial Rome.
