Summary/Abstract: The profound contemporary changes in the geopolitical and geostrategic environment implicitly affect the armed forces, their role, organizational structure, missions and their use. Today, at a global level, one of the problems faced by most of the world's armies concerns the structural reconstruction within the forces in the new geopolitical framework configured or, more correctly, in the process of being configured. Although the current situation is characterized by an apparent state of relaxation and increased trust between states, the divergences of interests of some countries in relation to others and the outbreaks of conflict demonstrate an instability that is particularly dangerous for the peace and security of states, especially small and medium-sized ones.
