Summary/Abstract: EU-Russia relations have been strained since 2014, due to “Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea, support for rebels in eastern Ukraine, policies in the neighborhood, disinformation campaigns, and negative domestic developments.” Tensions have also increased following Russia’s intervention in Syria, Libya, and sub-Saharan Africa. Since 2014, the EU has periodically renewed sanctions against Russia. Despite all this, the EU and Russia remain closely linked, and the EU practices “selective collaboration.” In this article, I will talk about the disinformation carried out by the Russian Federation in the context of current challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic or the conflict in Ukraine.
