Summary/Abstract: This article aims to analyze the distinct characteristics and complementarity between human operators and autonomous systems in modern military operations, exploring the dynamics of their collaboration to optimize operational efficiency and mission success. The article seeks to demonstrate the complementarity between human operators and autonomous systems by examining both the ability of human operators to rapidly adapt tactics under uncertain conditions – thanks to their capacity to interpret contextual nuances, applying critical thinking and emotional intelligence – and the efficiency of autonomous systems, which rely on well-established algorithms, unaffected by fatigue or emotional factors. The research is based on a comparative methodology, integrating longitudinal performance analysis in repetitive scenarios and cross-sectional analysis through the investigation of case studies from specialized literature. Additionally, the original contributions include proposing innovative methods for integrating these two entities, which can significantly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of military operations, considering both operational and strategic factors.
