Summary/Abstract: This study explores the significance of traditional cryptographic methods and their evolution in the context of modern threats, such as cyberattacks, espionage, and disinformation. It analyzes classical cryptographic approaches used in intelligence, such as substitution ciphers, polyalphabetic ciphers, and rotor machines, as well as their historical application in ensuring information security. The focus is on evaluating the effectiveness and vulnerabilities of older cryptographic methods, particularly in the context of modern technology. The study emphasizes the importance of combining historical cryptographic methods with contemporary approaches to information protection. It also examines the need for training new generations of intelligence specialists who understand the value of classical cryptography and its place in modern intelligence structures.
