Summary/Abstract: The report examines the historical evolution and current challenges facing Bulgarian intelligence and counterintelligence. It analyzes the need for adaptation to the digital age through the implementation of technologies such as Palantir for big data analysis and Bellingcat's OSINT methods. The report highlights the potential of these tools to enhance operational efficiency and threat monitoring. However, their implementation faces major obstacles – technological dependency, limited resources, lack of qualified personnel, and legal/ethical concerns. A strategic approach involving investments, training, and cooperation with the EU and NATO is recommended to overcome these barriers. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of balancing innovation with traditional methods to build a sustainable national security model.
