Summary/Abstract: The article explores the challenges and concerns the national intelligence system faces nowadays, given the trends in the national intelligence process. Discussing the national intelligence policy, the article advises the adoption of a National Intelligence Doctrine, as well as periodic reviews of the National Intelligence System. The article goes on to contemplate the liaison between the Intelligence System, state leadership and civil society. The article concludes by highlighting the need for innovative approaches, a clearly outlined intelligence policy and a continuing adaptation to the operational environment.
