Summary/Abstract: Starting from well-known premises according to which the causes of the appearance of autism in children are diverse and may be due to organic dysfunctions of a biochemical nature, or insufficient structural brain development, infectious-contagious diseases, trauma during birth and pregnancy, hereditary causes, the existence hydrocephalus, epilepsy, brain abnormalities. The objectives of the research consist in the evaluation of irrational cognitions, affective distress and the functioning of the family that includes a child with autism spectrum disorder. he hypotheses will demonstrate the association relations between irrational cognitions, affective distress and family functioning by calculating correlation coefficients between all subscales and behavioural control and general family functioning (FAD); or "sadness/depression" and positive emotions (PDA); rationality, the global evaluation of one's own value, the need for achievement, the need for approval, or the need for comfort, and the absolutist demand for justice, the global evaluation of others, irrationality (GABS). Also, the mediating role of irrational cognition in the relationship between general family functioning and affective distress will be investigated.
