Summary/Abstract: Our research is an integrated part of linguistics, more exactly in discourse analysis (the French school of discourse analysis). We discuss the issue and characteristics of digital discourse in blogs in comparison to non-online texts. We are looking into the identity of the bloggers on the “About us” or “Who we are” pages of a blog. This is always an “entity of the discourse” (Ducrot 1984) different from the empirical being of real life. A new (“kaleidoscopic”) type of reading is present on blogs, encouraged by the digital formats where the bloggers express themselves. The blogger’s discourse is made and employed online solely. The blogger acts mostly as a journalist. The journalistic chronicle is then frequently used. The “model reader” (Eco 1979) influences the way the blogger composes the presentation discourse on the “About” page.
