Summary/Abstract: The digital revolution has made communication easier, which was particularly evident during the coronavirus pandemic. But does digital development mean that our society is more accessible? Today, recent technologies are already helping to achieve better communication that overcomes the barriers posed by disabilities. But are we fully exploiting this potential? The main aim of the article is to answer these two questions in three parts. The first one attempts to define the phenomenon of web accessibility. The second one gives an overview of digital tools that can be used to provide greater accessibility of digital communication in social media. Finally, the third part presents the results of a study of social media accessibility in Poland. The research exploits the method of observation and analysis of questionnaires to be filled in by recipients of digital content who are also people with disabilities. Based on the observation and the completed questionnaires, the author tempers the view that the digital society has becomea more accessible society.
