Summary/Abstract: The European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) has evolved considerably between 2017 and 2023, both in terms of policy and operational strategy. During this period of time, Frontex was called upon to respond to challenges related to cross-border crime, illegal migration, security crises and threats and cross-border cooperation. The article examines how Frontex's policies and strategies have been adapted and developed to meet these security challenges and how the agency has strengthened its operational and logistical capacity to meet these specific missions. Over time, the agency's role has evolved, initially requiring the function of coordinating border security activities, and then becoming a European Agency with an expanded mandate that includes joint operations, basic and further training, research and support of migration flows, which implicitly meant the administration of the operational infrastructure, human resources and technologies. Also, there are mainly analysed the parts about legislative evolution, inter-institutional collaboration strategies and the impact of new technologies on Frontex's activities and missions, for this mentioned period of time.
