Summary/Abstract: Conceptual transition from "traditional" to "new generation of warfare", such as transition 1) from a war with conventional forces to specially prepared forces and commercial irregular groupings 2) from direct clash to contactless war, 3) from war in the physical environment to a war in the human consciousness and in cyberspace; 4) from symmetric to asymmetric warfare, indicate the actuality of hybrid warfare and information operations. The massive use of modern information technology and the phenomenon of „information overload“ have led to intensification of conflict using information, which makes information operations more and more important for national security. Information operations are conducted through a whole set of activities (civil and military) of relevance to national security, which is why they are suitable for hybrid warfare. The information space opens wide possibilities for hybrid warfare and reduction of the combat potential of a stronger and richer enemy.
